A-OK Pressure Washing, Inc. follows the ARMA recommendations and stands behind our quality work. ROOF TREATMENT AND CLEANING Roof cleaning is a fairly new concept in New England. The Algae (Gloeocapsa Magma - black streaks or black stains) thrive in areas of the country with high humidity. Although Massachusetts is not as humid as southern states, it is bad enough for the algae to grow and feed on the shingles. The Asphalt Roofing Manufactures Association (ARMA) recommends low pressure cleaning & treatment with specific chemicals to remove the black streaks and other contaminants from shingles. High pressure should NEVER to be used because it will damage shingles. A-OK Pressure Washing Inc. uses a "NO PRESSURE" cleaning & treatment process and follows the ARMA recommendations. We stand behind our work! |

Moss and Lichens have a root system that attaches to the granules of the shingles. If not properly treated, it can cause damage and prematurely shorten the life span of the roof. On average, it takes approximately 10 to 15 years for the growth to appear. After treatment, Black Streaks are usually gone quickly. However, the Moss and Lichens need time to detach with the natural process of rain and wind.
